Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia – Trailer & Release Date

The Treasure that is Trollhunters

First of all, I know I’ve said this before; but I have to say it again, Guillermo del Toro‘s Trollhunters, is one of the greatest Netflix series to-date.

Based loosely on the novel of the same name, Trollhunters is brought to life by the talented team at DreamWorks Animation, and in collaboration with the visionary author and filmmaker himself.

2016 wrapped up nicely for me, with this surprise, epic fantasy-adventure series. Not only is it perfect for children; with great animation and spectacular action, but there is also plenty here for grown-ups too – thanks to a strong story, clever humour and brilliant voice acting – Kelsey Grammer‘s ‘Blinky‘ is a particular favourite of mine.

Since the first part of the series finished last year, I – along with many other fans – have been waiting in hot-anticipation for the second part to be announced, and now the time has come.

Watch the trailer for ‘Part 2’ of this tense and highly-enjoyable Netflix Original series:

As you can see, the wait is almost over! On December 15th, the Hunters… become the Hunted.

Beneath our World… Evil has been Unleashed

Back in September we received some fantastic casting news, with the legendary acting talent of Mark Hamill, Lena Headey and David Bradley adding their voices to the already impressive cast. This fuelled my want and need for more information, and now; we have it.

In the trailer we see our heroes join forces to battle Gunmar, to bring about his doom. It appears that Jim Lake Jr. is joined by his teenage Troll-hunting friends, after having stepped alone; into the Darklands – at the climax of the first season – and proclaiming…

“For the doom of Gunmar, Eclipse is mine to command!”

…as the amulet turned a deep-red, before encasing Jim in the sleek black-crimson Trollhunter ‘Eclipse’ armour.

The battle to protect their hometown of Arcadia Oaks certainly continues, as we see the strength of Gunmar‘s Gumm-Gumm army, as well as getting a good look at the villainous Gunmar himself.

In addition to that, we get to see the quirky and lovable sidekick; Toby Domzalski, wield a flame-engulfed “portable war-hammer”. As well as the unexpected, but pleasant return of an old friend…

Although this is most noteworthy, I was surprised it was revealed in the trailer, but I was also pleased to see Blinky‘s humongous partner-in-crime; AAARRRGGHH!!!, return to the land of the living.

Now, if you have already seen the previous series of Trollhunters, you may be asking yourself how he managed to survive – or be revived – from the Creeper’s Sun Poison cut he received from the blade of Angor Rot?

Well, I’ll be honest, I also wondered the same. But as I watched the trailer, my son (a.k.a. the GoneFullGeek apprentice) pointed out that AAARRRGGHH!!! was wearing the ‘Daylight’ amulet, which must have helped revive him.

Now, is this the same amulet that Jim normally wears? Maybe.

Anyway, for now we will have to wait and see. In the meantime, here are a couple of images showing off the return of AAARRRGGHH!!! – complete with amulet:

Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia

The multi-Emmy-award winning show returns to Netflix on Friday 15th December 2017. If you haven’t yet watched Trollhunters, then I highly recommend it. The show is a pure joy to watch and is suitable for all ages. Perfect family viewing.

Unlike the the previous season’s 26 episode run, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia will only consist of 13 episodes. Sadly this reduction in episode-run, will also mark the last time we will hear the late Anton Yelchin; voice Jim Lake Jr.

Trollhunters Part 2 will launch in it’s entirety on Netflix, providing plenty of time for repeat-binge-watch viewings over the festive holidays.

Are you excited for the return of Trollhunters?

P.S. who do you think is stood behind Jim in this image?
