HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 8 Coming Next April?

Winter is Coming…

How great was season 6 of HBO‘s GoT?! Aside from the characters in Westeros seemingly “Fast Travelling” everywhere, and the slight lack of character development in some instances; season 7 was still great. So after watching all 7 episodes back-to-back, I can’t believe I have to wait an extra year to see what happens next.

Well thankfully, we might actually have a release date.

Maisie Williams might have gotten herself into a little trouble with HBO. In an interview with Metro UK, Maisie was asked how long they were shooting the final season for. In response, she said:

We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”

As of right now, the folks at HBO haven’t commented on this. So far, season 8 of GoT has been set to release in 2019, but no date has officially been given. So Let’s hope that Maisie‘s let it slip.

UPDATE: Maisie Williams has since revealed that she hasn’t said that April 2019 was the release date. Also, Metro UK have since edited their article and changed the “quote” from Maisie.

– I think they need to recheck what a quote actually is.

Looking Forward to the Final Season

Check out the official promo trailer for Season 8 below:

Man I love that music! Roll on April 2019… It might be time to renew your Now TV subscription in a while and re-watch it all again. I think season 1 is still my favourite, just getting to know the characters and being introduced to the world George R.R. Martin created.

Are you looking forward to seeing what terrors the Night King will bring? How will Daenerys react when she see’s Viserion?

Would you be happy with an April 2019 release date, and out of the 7 seasons we’ve already seen, which has been your favourite? Let us know in the comments below, and remember to stick with GoneFullGeek for the latest news.
