The Dark Tower: Legacy of the Gunslinger Trailer

Legacy of the Gunslinger

In this new trailer/featurette, The Dark Tower author; Stephen King, shares his thoughts about the movie, with Idris Elba (Gunslinger; Roland Deschain) and Matthew McConaughey (The Man in Black; Walter O’Dim), touching-on how they interpret the characters they portray, the purpose they serve and what they aim to achieve.

Plus, fix your eyes on some brand-new footage, showing off intense action, extremely cool reloading by Elba’s Gunslinger; Roland, as well as a few glimpses of McConaughey’s twisted and elusive Man in Black.

“For centuries, the Gunslingers were Knights. Sworn to protect us; from the coming of the dark.”

Although – based on the gun-play alone – Roland clearly knows how to handle himself, he still has plenty to learn. Not only about the value of the lives around him, but also what lies beyond the barrens of Mid-World; and within the bustling New York streets of Keystone Earth, on his journey for The Dark Tower.

“To see the Gunslinger come to life in film; with Idris Elba, it’s really incredible.” – STEPHEN KING

My Thoughts

Yes, I know, The Dark Tower movie isn’t the direct adaptation we all dreamed of, which is a shame. But that said, I for one; am really looking-forward to seeing how the movie plays out, and (hopefully) where the series leads us to next; after the credits role.

Over the years, we have had the pleasure of many great Stephen King adaptations, such as; The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist, It, The Shining. But, based on the direction the studios have taken, the depth of the source material; and how loyal the Dark Tower fans are, I have the feeling that this adaptation will divide audiences.

Divisive or not, this is a movie I have been looking-forward to for the past decade; and am simply grateful to see the characters I love and adore finally come to life on the silver screen.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower arrives in U.S. theatres on August 4th, with U.K. audiences having to wait until August 18th.
