The Biggest Reveals From Nintendo Direct’s Announcement

Nintendo have surprised gaming fans with a reveal of its upcoming releases of the first part of 2018 via Nintendo Direct. A few familiar faces that we grew up with are making their way to the Nintendo Switch; and I am super jealous not to own one!

The Biggest Reveals From Nintendo Direct's Announcement

Now is a great time to be a Nintendo Switch owner thanks to the latest reveal by Nintendo. So many great games from old favourites to new releases; the Switch is looking to have a fantastic 2018.

Here is a collective round up of everything that was revealed and when to expect them to be released.

The World Ends with You -Final Remix-

Making it’s way to the Switch is The World Ends with You -Final Remix-. Most recognisable on the Nintendo DS or most recently on your mobile phone. Square Enix bring the ARPG to the Switch. Players can choose from traditional controls or using the touch screen to give the game more diversity! No official release date has been announced, but expect it soon.

Kirby Star Allies

Announced in E3 last year, Kirty Star Allies is going to be available on the 16th March 2018. Introducing new features and an array of new abilities for Kirby to play with will make this a game to be on anyone’s wish list. If you have a few friends that also own a Switch, play Kirby Star Allies together with an all new 4 player co-op mode!

Pokkén Tournament DX DLC

The first DLC for Pokkén Tournament DX arrives in two parts. The first coming on the 31st January 2018 which includes a new character Aegislash; along with the support set Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu.

The second part of the DLC arrives on the 23rd March 2018 which includes one of my favourite Pokémon Blastoise and an additional support set that consists of Mew and Celebi.

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Version

What would a Nintendo announcement be without including one of my favourite gaming characters in Hyrule Warriors Definitive Version. Arriving in Spring 2018; includes all the content that was released on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS releases. You will have access to every map and character from the original titles; and will also be granted access to the new co-op mode.

Mario Tennis Aces

A brand new Mario Tennis Game is coming to the Switch in Spring 2018. Play as your favourite characters from the Mario franchise and will also introduce a brand new Story Mode! More updates are to follow later in the year.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA

Hitting the Switch in Summer 2018. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA has been previously available on the PC, PS Vita and PS4. With this announcement it is showing the commitment of Japanese developer and publishers to bring many of its awesome RPG’s to a global audience.

Super Mario Odyssey Update – Luigi’s Balloon World

If you have finished the main story in Super Mario Odyssey, you unlock two new fun modes. Hide it mode is similar to the classic hide and seek. You have 30 seconds to hide a balloon and have 30 seconds to find one of many balloons hidden by players from all over the world. You can unlock this new feature in February 2018

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle DLC

Donkey Kong takes a visit to the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom universe as a new playable character. Available in Spring 2018.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong’s debut on the Nintendo Switch comes with the remake of the Wii U classic. Introducing a new playable character: Funky Kong. Introducing new modes and 2 player co-op. Donkey Kong has never looked so good since Donkey Kong Country on the SNES!

I am personally really looking forward to seeing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, as I spent many hours of my childhood playing the franchise. Hopefully they will bring back Donkey Kong Racing in the new future!
