Red Dead Redemption 2: Announcement Coming…

A ‘Dead’ Long Journey
As a die-hard fan of Rockstar Games’ Open-World, American West classic; Red Dead Redemption. I can safely say that I had been eagerly awaiting a follow-up of some-sort, since the days where Jack Marston had stood there, over the dead body of main antagonist; Edgar Ross.
Then, in October 2016; Rockstar announced Red Dead Redemption 2.
This was followed by a short (but sweet) teaser trailer, that stated an Autumn 2017 release window.
Unfortunately, as is an all too typical trend with Rockstar Games’ releases, in May 2017 the publisher announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be delayed until Spring 2018.
Although this news was highly disappointing, it was not surprising. But, to whet our appetite, and to apologise for the delay, they also releases several NEW screenshots to tide-us-over.
A Barren Land
Since then, there has been a drought; so to speak. That’s to say, it would be easier to sift golden flecks from a nearby stream, than to expect Rockstar Games to provide regular updates to their loyal fans.
Over the past few months, there has been plenty of speculation and fan palaver about what to expect from the upcoming game, and when the next news update would arrive. And some fans felt that Rockstar had – once again – dropped the ball, as they had promised a further update in Summer 2017, yet up until a short-while ago, it looked like they were going to break their promise.
Well, that was until they tweeted this…

That Rootin’-Tootin’ Teaser
Although we have no idea what is coming, I am hopeful that we get a full-blown story trailer; along with actual gameplay footage that perhaps also teases the online aspect (slightly).
Whatever it is they show us next, I just hope it doesn’t end with another delay.
Although I do find their approach somewhat infuriating, I also admire them for it. They don’t “over-face” their audience with continuous bits of footage or information. They keep the on the tips of their toes, making sure they are ready to jump at the slightest bit of information.
I mean, just look at the image above. All it tells us is a date and time (in the font and style of RDR2), nothing else.
Thursday, September 28, 11AM ET (8AM PT/4PM BST, or 1AM AEST next day)
Yet, all of us here at GoneFullGeek – and the internet in general – have gone wild in anticipation.
Like myself, to avoid sitting in a corner rocking back ‘n’ forth, you can return to your PS3 and Xbox 360’s, slide in the disc for Red Dead Redemption, and step back into the shoes of John Marston. Or, just go around dead-eyeing the kneecaps of passing horses.
In the original trailer released for Red Dead Redemption 2, the 19th century American West looks absolutely stunning, and I for one cannot wait to explore the frontier once again.
Gameplay details for RDR2 have remained scarce so far, and no official release date has been announced. Let’s hope that come next Thursday, we all feel a little more comfortable in whats to come.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is due to release in Spring 2018 (but not before April 1 – much like its predecessor; I’m expecting a May release), and is currently confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One.
Fingers-crossed Rockstar Games and their parent company Take-Two announce that PC players will also be able to experience to game how they want.
What Do You Think?
Red Dead Redemption 2 will succeed, there’s no doubt about that, and it will also be a stellar experience.
But, will it live up to the hype set by its predecessor and GTA V?
Comment below, and let us know your thoughts.
What do you expect the announcement to be? Do you hope for more campaign/story info, or are you after more details on what will feature in RDR Online?
I look-forward to discussing this with you around the camp-fire…
Oh, and why not drop us a vote on our Twitter channel, before the big day arrives…
