One Awesome Indie Game
I bought this game expecting very little, as I’d seen almost nothing about it at the time. But I was pleasantly surprised. Not only does Firewatch engage you on an emotional level almost immediately, but it’s filled with stunning visuals, great gameplay and a few excellent characters. Oh yeah, there’s a neat little mystery, too… So, what more can you ask for?
Firewatch is a mystery/adventure game brought to us by “Campo Santo” & “Panic.” The teams responsible for this great game have done themselves proud, in my opinion. Firewatch is an extremely well written story and characters, and that shows straight away. Before the game has really begun, you’re made to care about the main character.
Without giving away too much of the story for those of you that haven’t played it. You’ll play as Henry – a “Fire Lookout” at “Shoshone National Forest” in 1989. Not long after Henry starts his job as a “Fire Lookout,” strange things begin to take place & Delilah (his ‘boss’) is the only woman he can talk to about it. In fact, she’s the only person for many miles.
You’ll likely burn through “Firewatch” in just a few hours, depending on how you play. But it’s definitely a few hours well spent, & there’s even some replay value tucked in there. If that’s not enough to convince you to spend a little cash on it, then check out the trailer below, and remember that Firewatch won the BAFTA Games Award for Performer, beating Uncharted 4’s Nolan North, Troy Baker and BAFTA Games Award for Debut Game. Now, coming ahead of Naughty Dog is definitely something Campo Santo should be proud of.
This is an amazing game, so please check it out and let us all know what you think.
Go ahead and download it now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
