Blizzcon 2017 Schedule Announced

It’s finally that time of year again when we are speculating what new and exciting goodies Blizzard are going to reveal at this years Blizzcon 2017.

Blizzcon 2017 Schedule Announced

Bookmark the following dates in your calendar and take the week off work if you have too. 26th October through to 4th November is going to be an action packed week of Blizzard news and reveals. Below are my thoughts on what I am expecting to be announced.

eSports & The Blizzcon 2017 Opening Ceremony

The beginning of the week is mainly focused on the major eSports events for Starcraft II, Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft. With the build up to which teams will be crowned Blizzcon Champions of 2017 by the end of the weekend. Other titles such as Overwatch and Hearthstone see a close to their current running tournaments as well during the end of the convention.

But the most important news kicks off on Friday 3rd November where you have the Opening Ceremony (which gives me goosebumps every year) that gives you a glimpse of whats to come. With knowing Blizzard, what they reveal is out for Beta testing shortly after the event has concluded!

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft at Blizzcon 2017

It looks like great news for World of Warcraft players as well, with speculation for some time regarding the announcement of their next expansion. But will one hour be enough to cover a expansion reveal? Especially when other Warcraft related panels seem quite generic and have no hints of anything expansion related. With Legion be extremely successful, it will be amazing to see how they top it. I am hoping for more features to the dungeon system following the success of the most recent Mythic Plus Invitational.

Overwatch at Blizzcon 2017

More Overwatch content is never a bad thing, especially when we have got an array of goodies from Gamescom 2017 such as the Junkertown Map and Mei’s origin backstory. My money is on a new Champion and the possibility of a new game-mode, followed up with a fantastic cinematic. Be sure to checkout the Overwatch reveal at 9.45pm GMT on Friday 3rd November on the main stage.

Hearthstone, Starcraft II & Heroes of the Storm

More reveals are in store for Blizzard’s remaining titles. I can only speculate that there will be new expansion for Hearthstone. They seem to be churning them out like they are going out of fashion as of late. Also with Starcraft having Brood War remastered only recently, there could be more stories to be told following on from StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void.

Heroes of the Storm will no doubt see more Blizzard All-Stars (no pun intended) reaching the battlefield for us to play, along with new maps, skins and mounts.

Why do I even get my hopes up for a new Diablo game each year? This year has one hour of panel discussions dedicated to what I find to be an amazing game. I am extremely gutted that not much love has been given to one of best Action RPGs available. Never-mind, we can just play Path of Exile as we cry over the Necromancer class we got last year.

Blizzcon 2017 Closing thoughts

This year is going to be amazing for Blizzard fans, there is going to be so many big reveals. But it wouldn’t put it past Blizzard to add a few extra surprises during the course of the week. Especially with the remastering of Starcraft, I have high-hopes that Warcraft III will also share the same fortune.
