Stephen King’s Next Terrifying Story…

It wasn’t until ten years ago, that I read my first Stephen King novel. That novel was The Gunslinger – the first entry in the author’s magnum opus saga; The Dark Tower.

Reading is ‘King’

As a child, I dabbled in reading books. But struggled to find anything that really hooked me in. Sure, there was the occasional novel I liked, but nothing that really drew me in.

I tell a lie. There were two novels that I liked from my youth. John Steinbeck‘s ‘Of Mice And Men‘, that I read as part of my high-school GCSE achievement, and Sheila Burnford‘s ‘The Incredible Journey‘ – that I read after already having a love for the original 1963 movie adaptation of said book.

Then, in my late teens; I delved into a brilliant trilogy of novels by S.M. Stirling – the T2 trilogy – which acted as the perfect sequels to James Cameron‘s The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

This whet my appetite for a true literary adventure.

Whilst browsing in W.H.Smith, I discovered a substantial series of books by an author my mum had spoken about when I was younger. That author, was Stephen King.

Since then, I haven’t looked back. And now, we have the details on King‘s next novel…

The Outsider

The ‘King of Horror’ has never really had a dull moment when it comes to his written word, and last year was a particularly scary one for fans – both good and bad. With various movie adaptations hitting both the big and small screens, and King himself hinting at a ninth Dark Tower novel.

And if that isn’t enough, here’s the synopsis for the 576 twisted-page-turner:

An unspeakable crime. A confounding investigation. At a time when the King brand has never been stronger, he has delivered one of his most unsettling and compulsively readable stories.

An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

As the investigation expands and horrifying answers begin to emerge, King’s propulsive story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

Sounds good, right? Well, worry not. These next few months will fly by.

The Outsider will be released on May 22nd, 2018. Pre-order your copy on Amazon:
